Duo

Duo pairs a planner and a builder without requiring specialist profiles. It uses the same saved plans, verification, usage limits, and recovery as Task Capsules.

Plan and buildโ€‹

  1. Open the composer's Work menu and select Duo.
  2. Choose Plan with and Build with from your connected accounts and installed models. Locus remembers the pair for future tasks.
  3. Describe the work. The planner can inspect the project and ask for clarification; planning is read-only.
  4. Review the saved plan in the conversation. Choose Revise to send feedback or Accept & build to start implementation.
  5. The builder implements and checks the plan. Follow-up messages use that same builder. Choose New plan to begin another planning cycle.

The task retains its chosen pair when the ordinary model picker or default Duo pair changes. Switch back to Work to use the ordinary model selection for new messages. Selecting a model does not grant additional tool permissions.

An explicit handoffโ€‹

Before building, Locus checks the approved plan revision and the source files named by the plan. A changed file may require a revised plan. These fingerprints cover declared files, not the entire repository.

Each stage uses its selected account. An unavailable account stops the stage; Locus does not move subscription work to an API account. Accepting the same handoff again does not create a duplicate build, including after a restart.

The planner is not automatically called again for implementation, review, or a final summary. Optional capsule review remains available through the detailed task controls.

Stop and recoverโ€‹

A stopped build offers Resume, Ask planner for help, and Review recovery. Review recovery opens the existing capsule controls for checks, usage, uncertain actions, and requirements needing your judgment. Planner help uses the capsule's bounded help allowance.

Reopening Locus restores the saved state without starting another model call. A previously running build appears paused until its saved attempt is refreshed. If saving a plan failed, use Retry saving plan on the card.

Use Task Recovery & Restoration to distinguish continuing an attempt, checking its existing outputs, and starting another execution. Duo's initial scope is interactive workspace work; scheduled automation and specialist mode menus use their existing modes.
